Calguard Mental Health Officer MAJ Eric Frye and Calguard Medical Detachment Psych/Mental Health Nurse MAJ Guy Lamunyon assist Calguard 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Chaplain, LTC William C. Metzdorf and Army Reserve Chaplain and Medical Readiness personnel in the post Katrina Debriefing.
LA Debriefing 30 SEP 05
Group demobilization presentation was given to approx 350 personnel followed by 5 small group debriefings. A total of eight debriefers participated in the small group sessions.
Most participants expressed empathy for the people of LA, compassion for lost children and stranded pets and grief for dead animals. Many had been exposed to dead and decaying bodies. Many of the soldiers had been exposed to corpses in Iraq or elsewhere in the past.
